Introduced in 2018 as the travel-oriented sister model to the Honda Africa Twin, the Adventure Sports differs from the standard version primarily in terms of greater long-distance comfort: a larger fuel tank (24.8 l), better wind protection, a more comfortable seat and ergonomics package, and more extensive standard equipment including heated grips and electronic suspension. Following the engine capacity upgrade to 1,084 cc for the 2020 model year, the Adventure Sports shares the model code CRF1100L with its sister model. In 2024, the chassis, fairing and engine tuning underwent a major overhaul.
